Small evergreen perennial bulb similar to a succulent. It has fleshy, stalkless, broadly lance-shaped, pointed leaves. Leaf upper surfaces are silvery blotched and banded with olive green and the undersides are deep violet. Long thick clusters of 20 to 25 flowers above the leaves in spring.
