Botanical Name
Gardenia jasminoides 'Frostproof'
Description
Frostproof Gardenia has a more upright habit, sports shiny, dark, thick green leaves that contrast very nicely with the intensely fragrant, 2 to 3 inch diameter white flowers that bloom in summer. The flower buds are resistant to late spring frosts that can damage them. This is an excellent choice for a hedge or foundation planting. This gardenia can thrive with more direct sun than other varieties. Frostproof prefers full to partial sun and well drained soils as well as some protection from harsh winter weather.
